The sole goal of the fumes post-treatment line is to remove acidic compounds from the fumes.
Halogens and Sulphur contained in the waste undergo chemical transformation into acidic compounds (e.g. HCl, SO2) in the oxidation reactor. Two alternative fumes post-treatment are adopted:

for Cl + S content < 7% wt : dry fumes neutralization with Sodium Acid carbonates
for Cl + S content > 7% wt : fumes water scrubbing, followed by wet Alkaline neutralization
